In order for us to clean your property properly and ensure it is safe to move into we need to have the property empty for several days. Although your tenancy begins on 1st July we do not want you to move into your property until after 2.00pm on Wednesday 8th July 2020: if you're due to move into a managed property we do not want you to move in until after 2pm on Wednesday 15th July 2020. Our decision is based on the government's advice on the risk of the Covid-19 virus and cleaning in non-healthcare settings published on 15th May which states:
“The infection risk from coronavirus (COVID-19) following contamination of the environment decreases over time. It is not yet clear at what point there is no risk. However, studies of other viruses in the same family suggest that, in most circumstances, the risk is likely to be reduced significantly after 72 hours.”
These risks apply equally to student tenants, visiting parents, contractors, and Unipol staff.
Exceptional circumstances/essential moving in - Ordinarily a number of students will move directly from one property into their new property on the 1st July. Where a student has no option to return “home” to allow for an empty period, in these cases special arrangements can be made to either store belongings for a short period of time or allow a single day move between properties. If this is the case for you, you will need to tell us about this no later than Friday 19th June 2020. After that time we cannot offer this service.
If you need to move in between 1st July – 7/15th of July 2020 please complete this form as soon as possible. Please note that your essential need to move in between 1st – 15th July will be considered by Unipol and if it is deemed non-essential the offer of 50% rent reduction for July and August will be withdrawn and you will have to pay the full rent for this period.
