Students live all over Nottingham, in some cases choosing to live close to their institution and in other cases choosing the location of the property for its amenities and favourable location rather than its proximity to their place of study. Although recent research has shown that students are moving closer to the city centre there are other areas which should be explored as they offer a host of local amenities and are very student friendly. Lenton and Dunkirk remain the most popular areas for University of Nottingham students, whilst the city centre and the Arboretum sees the greatest density of Nottingham Trent University students.

Lenton is one of Nottingham’s busiest student areas, making it relatively quiet in summer. But during September to May it bustles with a population of around 10,000, mostly made up of students. Lenton stretches from Derby Road in the city centre to University Boulevard.
Dunkirk is on the doorstep of The University of Nottingham’s main campus, outside the south entrance, with a good public bus service into town. Despite being quieter than Lenton it still has a noticeable student population. The main attraction is that Dunkirk is extremely close to the University of Nottingham’s University Park whist also being in walking distance of Jubilee Campus.
