What Are Residential PEEPs?
Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) are designed to help residents who may need assistance evacuating a building during a fire. This includes individuals with mobility, sensory, or cognitive impairments.
Why Do They Matter?
Following recommendations from the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, new regulations require building managers to identify and support residents who may struggle to evacuate independently. These plans aim to improve safety and ensure everyone knows what to do in an emergency.
Who Can Request a PEEP?
If you live in a high-rise or multi-storey building and feel you would need help evacuating during a fire, you can request a PEEP. Participation is voluntary, and your information will only be shared with emergency services if you give explicit consent.
