By law you must be covered by a TV Licence if you:

  • Watch or record TV on any channel via any TV service (e.g. Sky, Virgin, Freeview, Freesat),
  • Watch live on streaming services (e.g. ITVX, All 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now, Sky Go), or use BBC iPlayer

This could be on any devices including a TV, desktop computer, laptop, mobile phone, tablet and games consoles. The law applies to all UK residents under 75 years old - including students.

If you tenancy includes a TV in the communal lounge then Unipol will provide a licence. However if you are on an individual tenancy agreement then this will not cover usage in your bedroom.
