Information for tenants

Grayson Heights provides spacious accommodation for 24 families and a number of postgraduates in the family area of Kirsktall. We ask all tenants to take pride in the building whilst living there and make it their home.

Your responsibilities - If you see litter in the garden or the communal areas, pick it up and put it in the bin. Respect your neighbours when it comes to noise levels and have consideration when using any communal spaces.

Report any repairs or damage to Unipol, so we can keep the building well maintained and a pleasant environment for all tenants.

Reception - The reception at Grayson Heights is open a number of hours a day. Check for opening times. 

Our friendly student Residents Assistants live in the building and can help with your questions you may have. You can Report a repair/Ask for help/Loan an iron/replace a lost key at reception

Internet - is provided by Ask4. You can connect 8 devices via the wired or Wi-Fi network and have the option to use more for a small fee. In your key pack there will be a leaflet with instructions how to register and log onto the network.

Instruction guides to appliances - find out how to use everything in your house. If you cannot find the appliance you need, please contact us.

Grayson Heights;

Mail and parcels - General post (letters and parcels that can fit through the letter box in your door) is delivered directly to flat doors by Royal Mail (not Sundays). 

Private couriers will use the intercom to ring flat doors to deliver. If you are not home, the parcel would be returned to the delivery office and a failed delivery note would be posted to you with instructions of how to collect your parcel.

If the parcel is received by the Resident Assistant whilst on duty, you will be notified and should collect it during reception open hours.

The nearest post box to send mail is on Eden Mount, outside the building

Fire alarms - is tested weekly, usually a Wednesday morning between 10am-midday. During the alarm test you will hear this sound in your flat. If the alarm rings continuously, please follow instructions on the fire notice in your flat. 

Security - The building has CCTV covering the communal areas. The University of Leeds have a mobile patrol which visits the site regularly.

Outside facilities including gardens - There is a playground at the back of the building opposite. Access is by using the pathway between the buildings. You will need a gate passcode, which is available at reception.

Parking and bikes - Parking is available at Grayson Heights and is free

There is a secure bike store on site. This is on a key pad and if you wish store a bike, please see staff at reception for the code.

 

Energy information for Grayson Heights - Unipol administer the electricity charges for your property monthly. You will be billed monthly for the exact energy you consume and need to make payment to Unipol within the timescale on the invoice.

Over the colder winter months we expect families to use more than the monthly billing amount but over the summer months you may use less. 

 Water charges and insurance for your personal possessions are included for within the rent tenants pay at Grayson Heights

Disposing of your waste - You are provided with a bin in your kitchen. You need to dispose of your waste in the large bins located in the car park. There are a number of bins; so ensure to use the correct bin. If a bin is full, please use the next available bin, do not leave waste in the floor

General Waste collection -  General waste collection is weekly on a Wednesday. To find out the date of your next collection, go to Leeds City Council’s website and enter LS4 2UD (the postcode for Grayson Heights) on this page

What can I put in the recycling bins?

Communal cleaning - The communal areas are cleaned weekly on Tuesdays

Local amenities - there is a local shop very close by and at Kirkstall Retail centre, a large Morrisons Supermarket for food and household supplies in Kirkstall Retail Park. Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Park is also within walking distance

Health - there is a pharmacy in Kirkstall for medical supplies and prescriptions. Vesper Road and Morris Lane Surgery is the local GP (general practitioner)
